As regards the provenance of these manuscripts, the great majority of them have been collected by the Travelling Pandits in their tours and purchased by the Library. (iii) The Publication Department.-Another important section of the Library is engaged in editing and publishing important works in Sanskrit and Kannada. The Library has, so far, published 80 works in Sanskrit and 22 in Kannada. The publication section consists of scholars trained in modern methods of work as well as some of the ablest pandits in the State, and the works, edited and published by them, have been found useful and interesting by those that consult them. About half the number of copies of each publication are presented to important institutions and distinguished scholars in and outside India.
