At several times I have written to you. I have also, two years ago, sent you a copy of my book on the "sa Religion djaina", but I received no information about it.
Now I am engaged on Umasvati's Tattvarthasutra in order to translate it into French, as that sutra, in my opinion, is a brief, but complete, exposition of Jaina religion. With my best thanks and feelings of veneration,
I remain,
Yours very sincerely DR. A. GUERINOT

My dear and venerable Muniraj Indravijayaji,
I should be ashamed of not having answered all the lettersyou kindly wrote me in the last months, if a possibility had existed to do so. But the utter want of leisure for letterwriting prevented me from writing to you, especially so, as whenever I am writing you a letter, I have so many and in my opinion important-things to say, that I do not like to use a bit of time not sufficient for the necessary reflection. In the first half of this year I was seriously ill, as I told you, and after it my health still was a bad and my spirits very low. Then there was an affair of theft, which took all my time.
