Prof. Schubring told me that there has been a tradition that such work should be entrusted only to those serving there; but he added that in the case of Rāsa Mss. the work of preparing their catalogue should be given to me they being in Gujarati. He asked me just to wait till the next Congress of the German Orientalists, which would meet in Hamburg. Then he will personally talk to the concerned, the atmosphere being very favourable because of the congress. You must have heard by this time that miss Krause is already in India. I have read about her different plans, but do not know what the real ones are.

He also informed me of your letter to him; at present he is too much occupied with the work of his various classes and of his public lectures on the "Early History of India".
