With the death of Rawal Raysing doubt, uncertainities and sopperiness in the Geneology are seen once more. Udaisingh liucceded Raysingh, being adopted by his widow, after his death. Elis ahocession was contested by Amarababa, the great Grand father of the present Maharawal Sir Indrasinghji Bahadur K. C. I. E. It is alleged that Amrababa waved out his claims, in favour of Udaisingh with condition, that if the former dies without any issue of his blood, De would succeed to the Gadi. An agreement to this effect was produced by Amara baba, on latter occaission, after i2 years but was rejected by the then Agent to the Governer in council at Surat
It is not known as to what relation Udaisingh bore with his predecessor Mahara wal Raysingh. Mr. J.N.W. Sutherland, the Agent at Surat, while reporting, in reponse of a letter of Mr. Wiliam Newghan the Chief Secretary to the Government of Bombay, dated 10th September 1827, on 26th September 1827, depicte" Raisingh in A. D. 1817. was succeded by his ralative the present Raja Udaisingh, who was adopted by he widow and another female relation to the Raja" and two years latter', the then Surat Agent in his letter dated 4th March 1829, addressed to the Chief Secratary, observes in para 26"In the table No. 1 a Kreat portion of the information already submited with my former letter is set di wn, I beg to be understood, that I do not vouch its acouracy further than the branch commencing with Dedeysingh the father of Goolabsingh and Pratapsingh. I have no means of connecting it, as the family Wahibancha or Travelling Registrar was not to be found, having gone on a circuit in the Kajwara". We proceed one step further thar, that of the Agent and say with all the emphasis at our command, that the Genologies retered to by him were not relaible. A com prative glance on the Geneology in question and the con prepared by us, on the authou.
sy of Peshwa record as well as on Marathi and Gujararati and English, will convince, we are confident, our readers at once, regar ding the soundness of our contentions. We are in complete agrecment with the Agent so far the accuracy, of table No. 1. commencing with father of Goolabsingh and Pratapsingh, is concerned. Besides this, we fall in line with the Agent's contention regarding the distinctness, ather seprateness, of this branch from the Ruling houpo, whieh became extinct with the death of Mabarawl Gooleb-. singh in the year 1753 A. D.
Before under taking the examination of the Geneological Tales further, we would like to list out the several table
