________________ VII JAIN LAYMAN To observe the Sadhu Dharma (duties of a Jain Ascetic) is indeed extremely difficult and rare souls only dare to observe it. Therefore, for other souls, who are unable to practise the Sadhudharma, another path is shown and it is known as Shravaka Dharma (duties of a layman). Samyaktva (Right perception) Samyaktva means right perception, right faith or right belief. In other words, implicit faith in the words of the Paramatma, the belief of godhood in the real deity, the belief that "the real guru (a master) only is my guru" and the belief that the true religion is my religion. This is what is called Samyaktva. (1) Belief in the real deity.-Only that soul which is free from the evils of attachment and aversion etc., which is omniscient, which is adored by the three worlds, which propounds the true tatvas (principles) and who has conquered all the internal foes (Arihanta) is the real deity.
