________________ 36 of God. Why then this partiality in making one happy and the other miserable? Why one is made to live and the other is ordained to die? What was the purpose of God in doing this? If you say that these oddities are the effect of Karma, one will ask "Where did Karma come from in case of a newly created being?" Therefore, one must believe that this world has been in existence from the times eternal, that souls have also existed from times eternal and Karmas also, from the point of view of flow, are without any beginning and have been existing all along during the past eternity. Souls bind themselves by fresh Karmas while the old ones get exhausted by enjoyment. In this way according to Karmas the soul's condition keeps on changing. Therefore, it would be erroneous to believe that God is the creator of this world. . Imagine what trouble and anxiety the head of a family of ten members has to undergo in maintaining the members. It is also said that "uneasy lies the head that wears a crown." Then what will be the extent of anxiety of God who has to look after the whole universe?
