Eight Karmas
Karmas can be divided into eight fundamental divisions, 158 subsidiary divisions and thus even into innumerable sub-divisions by and by. (1) Jnanavaraneeya Karma: Overshadows
the soul's attribute of knowledge. (2) Darshanavaraneeya Karma: restrains
the soul's faculty of perception. (3) Vedaneeya Karma: Imparts unhappi
ness or misery. (4) Mohaneeya Karma: Hinders the in
herent nature of the soul. (5) Ayushya Karma : Keeps one in bondage
of four forms of existence.
