As the king's brother-in-law had helped him to the throne, he became very haughty and cut Jokes at him in the presence of others. When Kumārapāla’s warnings fell on deaf ears, the king put out his eyes. This exemplary punishment had its desired effects and from that day, all other nobles feared the king and did not disobey his commands.8 Kumārapāla spent the next few years of his reign in consolidating his kingdom and in conquering new territories. Accordig to the Dvyasraya, Anna, king of Sapadalaksha, hearing of Jayasimba's death, thought that the government of Gujarat had become weak and planned an invasion of that country. He formed a confederacy against Kumarapāla. It was arranged that Ballāla, king of Avanti and Anna of Sapädalaksha with other members of the confederacy should simultaneously attack Gujarat. 6.
