He performed austere penance and abstained from rich food.50 Vardhamanacharya, pupil of the famous commentator Abhayadeva, wrote the Adinathacharita in A. D. 1104 in the glorious reign of Siddharāja. It is divided into five parts and contains 11,000 verses. The whole is in Prakrit, but at times, Apabhramsa is used. It is a very big work on the life of Adinatha, the first Tirthankara. Our author's other works are Manoramacharitra (A. D. 1083-4) and Dharmaratnakurandavritti (A.
