मारवाड़ का इतिहास
कर्नल टॉड ने एक स्थान पर लिखा है :
बनता (महाराजा बखतसिंह ) प्रसन्न चित्त, बिलकुल निर्भय और अत्यधिक दानी होने के कारण एक आदर्श राजपूत था । उसका रूप तेजस्वी, शरीर बलिष्ठ और बुद्धि स्थानिक साहित्य में पारंगत थी । वह एक श्रेष्ठ कवि था । यदि उसके हाथ से एक बड़ा अपराध न हुआ होता, तो वह भविष्य संतति के लिये, राजस्थान में होनेवाले राजाओं में, सब से श्रेष्ठ आदर्श नरेश होता । इन गुणों के कारण वह केवल अपने बंधुओं काही प्रिय नहीं था, बल्कि अन्य बाहर के संबंधी भी उसका आदर करते थे ।
कर्नल टॉड ने आगे फिर लिखा है '
:
यदि बनतसिंह कुछ वर्षों तक और जीवित रहता तो अधिक संभव था कि राजपूत, सारे हिंदोस्तान में, फिर से अपना पुराना अधिकार प्राप्त कर लेते ।
9. "There was a joyousness of soul about Bakhat which united to an intrepidity and a liberality alike unbounded, made him the very model of a Rajput. To these qualifications were superadded a majestic mien and Herculean frame, with a mind versed in all the literature of his country, besides poetic talent of no mean order; and but for that one damning crime, he would have been handed down to posterity as one of the noblest princes Rajwara ever knew. These qualities not only riveted the attachment of the honsehold clans, but secured the respect of all his exterior relations,......”
