Asrava is the third principle. It is defined as “what forms the inlet fur ausp cious and ominous Karmans." These inlets are opened in The Asra- the case of the sou! when it fee's love vas. or hatred for whatever it spes or knoirs through its seeing or knowing pouver ( D.2.C.NU or Darshan ) just as water is let into the boat through its holes. When the soul fvels its love or hatred rightly, the Asia Vi is an “ Auspicious ( Shubha ) Asrava ” and when wrongly, it is " Ominous ( Ashubh2 ) Asrava. ” The soul is either in an“ auspicious ” or “ unauspicious ' or "pure” state. The first is superior to the second; but it is not capable of carrying the soul to Moksha as it is tainted with passions, which being of an auspicious nature may at the most lead to the heavens in after life or the eminence of a Chakravar.i (Emperor ) in this
