An Account of
Anu Vows into Mahavritas by always tending to narrow the limits of the former Vows. Its observance entails avoidance of five The Shik- faults which are ( 1 ) sending men sha Vritas. beyond the limits ( 2 ) sending verbal messages beyond the limits ( 3 ) ordering things from beyond the limits ( 4 ) making signs by physical movements and ( 5 ) by movements of outward objects.
The second is Sámayika. It consists in a man's Samdyika fixing a certain time every morning noon and evening and spending that time in devotion, reading the scriptures and concentration sitting or standing in some lonely place. At this a man should confess and repent all the evil done, spoken or thought of. This is ca'led Pratikraman, which is a part of Samayika. A resolution not to commit the same mistake over again, is called Pratyakhyan, which also is included in Samayika. It is a great penance and it purifies the mind.
