Charya In observing it, too, five faults have to be guarded against, namely, [1 ] to bring about others' marriages [ 2 ] to relish naked sexuality [ 3 ] to inc'u'ge indecent taik [ 4 ] to be too fond of sensuality and [ 5 ] to frequent the houses of prostitutes. The fifth is the cricumscription of worldly equipments. It means that a man should make up his mind as to what are his needs and then limit his ambition there and that he should live within his means. The five faults to be avoided here are ( 1 ) to undertake unnecessary enterprise (2) to lay by too niuch ( 3 ) to admire with satisfaction other men's wealth [ 4 ] to be covetous and [ 5 ] to bear too much burden. These five vows observed without faults and the abandon ment of intoxicants, animal-food and honey, make up the eight primary qualities of a layman. They are essential to make him a Shravak.
