* मंगलाचरण और प्रतिज्ञावाक्य * लक्ष्मीनिवासनिलयं विलीनविलयं निधाय हृदि वीरम् । आत्मानुशासनमहं वक्ष्ये मोक्षाय भव्यानाम् ॥१॥
अर्थ - जो वीर जिनेन्द्र लक्ष्मी के निवास स्थान स्वरूप हैं तथा जिनका पाप-मल (घाती-कर्म) नष्ट हो चुका है उन्हें हृदय में धारण करके मैं भव्य जीवों को मोक्ष प्राप्ति के निमित्तभूत आत्मानुशासन अर्थात् आत्मस्वरूप की शिक्षा देने वाले इस ग्रन्थ को कहूँगा।
INVOCATION Having established in my heart Lord Vīra (the twentyfourth Tirthankara) – the abode of 'Laksmi* (supreme grandeur, splendour) and rid of the karmic dirt - I shall expound 'Atmānusāsana' for the potential (bhavya) beings so that they may attain liberation (moksa).
EXPLANATORY NOTE
On destruction of the four inimical (ghātī) karmas, the self-dependent 'svayambhu' soul of the 'Arhat' - the World Teacher - no longer depends on the five senses; it becomes atīndriya. It is then characterized by infinite knowledge - kevalajñāna (on destruction of the jñānāvaraṇīya karma), infinite perception - kevaladarśana (on destruction of the darśanāvaraṇīya karma), infinite faith or belief in the essential principles of the reality - ksāyika-samyaktva (on
* 'Laksmi' here refers to the Lord's internal splendour of omniscience, and
external splendours like the heavenly Pavilion (samavasarana) and the divine-voice (divyadhvani).
