(This technical question and its answer may be ignored in the first reading). If a householder SamyagDrşti is free from Āsrava Bhāva and free from the new bonding then what is the spiritual difference, in the technical language of scriptures, between a householder SamyagDrşti and a saint who has
renounced the world? Technical answer:
(i) Drinking water filtered by the reverse osmosis procedure (RO water) is called as pure water and the distilled water meant for injection is also pure water. But both are not of equal purity. In the eyes of a nano-scientist or molecular physicist neither of these is perfectly pure. Same can be said about the absence of the new bonding of a SamyagDrști in 4th Guņasthāna and 6th Guņasthāna. (ii) As discussed in the answer of the previous question, a person in 6th and 7th Guņasthāna (one who is a SamyagDrști and has also renounced the world experiences a higher degree of peace as compared to that experienced by a householder SamyagDrști. (iii) Rāga and Dveșa are due to Kașāya. Kaşāya are of four types: anger, ego, deceit, and greed. Each type of Kaṣāya is of four kinds: Anantānubandhī, Apratyākhyāna, Pratyākhyāna, and Samjvalana.
