(6) The ocean of spiritual literature thus implodes into one little drop; Similar is the example of the miraculous charm by which the 14 vast ancient doctrines are known to the self-realised. (7) The faculty of the mind that remains filled with carnal desires and passions, The soul's manifestations shall be distraught, and such a person's association with the Guru and religion shall be futile. (8) Weakened sensual pleasures, along with frankness, accompanied by abidance with the divine instruction and deep contemplation; The qualities of compassion and tenderness have evolved, that is the first stage of spiritual progression. (9) Where the materialistic indulgences such as speech have been restrained, where the tools of austerity are practised with love; Where worldly existence is no longer dearer than one's soul, there the great fortunate one has arrived at the middle stage of spiritual progression.
