I am tempted to go to the extent of saying that there may have been quite a few followers of Jainism who might have built temples of Lord Mahavir, or those who might have taken a lead in resurrecting sacred pilgrimage places, those who might have organised large-scale pilgrimages and those who might have even undertaken the most difficult of penances; nevertheless, it is only this great sage who could set an example of complete victory over greed.
