________________ Puspudusitaka, a lost Sanskrit drama of the Prakarana-type, has been discussed and appreciated by several leading critics, classical and modern. Because of the meagreness of the available information, several key-points in its plot and motivations behind some actions remained obscure, forcing modern scholars to make speculations. The story of Sagaradatta and Nandayanti, preserved in Jain narrative literature, based as it is on the same plot, but which so for escaped attention of scholars, is shown to be helpful in solving several problems and clarifying a number of issues. Incidentally the value of Jain sources for filling up gaps in the history of Classical literature is stressed by pointing out some similar instances.
