No. 28.--BARGAON TEMPLE INSCRIPTION OF SABARA.

This inscription is incised on a broken stone slab which is still lying amidst the ruins of a temple to the north of Bargaon, a village situated at a distance of twenty-seven miles north by west of Murwara, the chief town of the Murwärä tahsil of the Jubbulpore District, in the Central Provinces. The inscription does not seen. to have been noticed by General Cunningham who visited Bargaon twice, during 1883-84 and 1884-85, and has given a fairly detailed description of the temples and mentioned three other records found there in his Archaeological Survey of India Reports, Vol XXI, Part I, p. 101 and Part II, pp. 163-64. The present inscription was briefly roticed for the first time by Rai Bahadur Hiralal in his Inscriptions in the Central Provinces and Berar, but it has not
