TRANSLATION. A
Verse 1. Invocation to Sambhu.
V. 2. The ocean, terrific on account of excessive roar, looks fair to the sight with voluminous billows mixed with pearls that are tossed about by the motion of tortoises with stout heads, by the slashes of fearful trunks moving to and fro of the big water elephants that are seated, and by the rubbings of the feet of crocodiles losing courage at the increasing tumult caused by the blows, rendered heavier by the movements of the tails, of the wallowing pathina fishes.
V. 3. Encircled by the beautiful ditch, the ocean, Jambudvipa looks highly charming; in it the Mount Meru appears very attractive as if he is the best of all beautiful mountains.
