२५. गुणस्थानक सूत्र
३०६. जेहिं दु लक्खिज्जंते, उदयादिसु संभवेहिं भावेहिं ।
जीवा ते गुणसण्णा, णद्दिट्टा सव्वदरिसीहिं ॥१॥ मोहनीय आदि कर्मों के उदय (उपशम, क्षय, क्षयोपशम) आदि से होने वाले जिन परिणामों से युक्त जीव पहचाने जाते हैं, उनको सर्वदर्शी जिनेन्द्रदेव ने 'गण' या 'गणस्थान' की संज्ञा दी है । अर्थात् समयक्त्व आदि की अपेक्षा जीवों की अवस्थाएँ-श्रेणियाँ-भूमिकाएँ गुणस्थान कहलाती हैं ।

વગેરેથી થતાર જે પરિણામોથી જીવતે ઓળખી શકાય છે એને સર્વદશ જિલદવે “ગુણ' કે “ગુણસ્થાન' નામ આપ્યું છે. અર્થાત્ સખ્યત્ત્વ આદિતી અપેક્ષાએ જીવોની અવસ્થાઓશ્રેણીઓ-ભૂમિકાઓને ગુણસ્થાન કહે છે.
( 25. GUNASTHANAK SOOTRA) 306. On ripening (maturity) of 'Mohaniya' karma
(pacification, elimination - (destraction) and partial destruction cum partial pacification etc. Wherever reflections are aroused there from, a soul can be identified to such situation. Lord Jina Who, with perfect (total) Perception - Vision have given nomenclature of 'Guna' (merits) and 'Gunasthana' (state of merits) meaning thereby from the point of view of perception etc. The stages, position, status, reflection at which different souls rest
