छन्दोदर्शनम् पदपाठः – यः । भूतानाम् । भूतऽपतिः । भवति ।
यः । वा । भूतानि । सम् । बिभर्ति । गर्भ ॥ विश्वानि । एतानि । जजान । चित्तिऽभिः। सः। सत्यः । अयम् । अमृतः । विश्वऽवेदाः ॥
The Atma is the lord of all elements. He bears and holds them all in his womb. By the powers of his consciousness he brought them all out. He is the truth, he is immortal and omniscient.
अन्वयभाष्यम्। यः चेतनात्मा भूतानां आकाशादीनां सर्वेषां जगतां समात्राणां शब्दादितन्मात्रासहितानां भूतपतिः स्वयंसिद्धः अधिपतिः पुरुषः विश्वबीजसन्धारकः सन् पुरुषसत्त्वः यः आदितः सर्वाणि भूतानि अन्तः आत्मनि स्वे गर्भे सम्बिभर्ति सम्बभार बीजरूपेण सन्दधे, पुरुषः इवैव स्वसन्तानबीजरूपाणि सुवीर्याणि ज्योतीरसैकसत्त्वानीति भावः ॥ यश्च तपसा अन्तःप्रवृद्धेन तेज:सत्त्वेन आत्मबलरूपेण तानि स्वान्तःसन्धृतानि भूतानि बहिः बाह्येन नामरूपादिभावेन केवलं नामात्मकानि तानि सरूपभावाय जज्ञे बहिमत्ससर्ज, सोऽयं अन्तरात्मा चैतन्यसत्त्वः सत्य: केवलं सत्त्वरूप: अमृतात्मा सर्वज्ञश्च सन् विश्वस्यैवास्य प्रभवतीति ॥
COMMENTARY-SUMMARY TRANSLATION Atmă is the lord of all elements like åkāśa (sky) etc. and all worlds, including the subtle characteristics of the elements. He is Purusha, a person who bears the seed of the universe. He carried all in himself like a seed, like a Purusha who retains within himself the very seed of his future children. He by his tapas, by his own vigour brought out all those elements which he had retained within him. They assumed various names and forms. They had formerly only names and when he brought them out, they assumed forms also. He, the inner soul, is the truth, he is immortal and omniscient.
सप्तमी ऋक् । यो भूतानि स्वयमेवाबभूव विश्वेषु यो भूतेष्वन्तः प्रविष्टः॥ यो अस्माकमन्तरः प्रचेतते स सत्योऽयममृतौ विश्ववेदाः ॥ ७ ॥
