NAYAVADA THE DOCTRINE OF STANDPOINTS

overemphasis on any one view point and regarding it as abasolute is fallacious. Jainas emphasize that all these aspects are not isolated but integrated in concrete fact. "The different approaches only illustrate the truth that the tendency to differentiation and specification, if not checked by reference to the other concomitant traits, will culminate in disastrous results".19 This philosophy of standpointism is thus, a revolt against building a closed system of philosophy which look upon partial standpoints as absolute ones ending in extremism and fanaticism and according to Jainism, Nyaya-Vaiseṣika Sāṁkhya and Advaita Vedānta may be said to be illustrations of this.
