Could the hunger of thc monk get removed by this apology of Gunsen ? Could the will to do one more month's. fast be slackened ? But for the ascetics, the importance of hunger is nil. The alternative to this viz. to dropthe idea of breaking the rule was-ous of question. The food is needed only for the nourishment of the body.
Anyway, Agnisharma was convinced that Gunsen had not knowingly done any-- thing. In fact, Gunsen was only instrumental in providing a test of my dedication.
The hermits also realised that Gunsen: was innocent and destiny willed it.
Agnisharma's anger was now quietened. He apologised Gunsen and said :
“King ! I am much indebted to you.
