The tissues of certain plants, especially those of a sweei, fleshy, or seed-filled nature, are also thought to serve as hosts for nigoda: plants of this type are termed sādhārana, 'those which share their bodies.' The avoidance of figs as part of the mūlaguņa practice seems to represent a symbolic renunciation of all nigoda-ridden vegetable substances;...." P.S. Jaini, p. 171.
