PREFACE
This edition of the Uttaradhyayans-Sutra is specifically intended for the University students of Ardhamagadhi. The text followed is essentially based on the excellent edition of Prof. Jarl Charpentier of Upsala. But as the edition is no longer available and as there is no other good edition of the text available for the last so many years, we are presenting this complete edition of the text only, at a moderate price for the student world. We have corrected a few misprints in Prof. Charpentier's edition and have incorporated a few better readings, as given in Devendra's commentary. We propose to bring out another edition with introduction, The summary of chapters, Index of verses and vocabulary of difficult words and technical terms if possible. We take this opportunity of thanking the management of the Aryabhushan Press for prompt and excellent printing of the book.
