The great-grandson of Vadhu (7) of the Shri Gallaka (Tg) family, Devachandra, (777) had by bis wife Padmini (f) four sons; Ambada, (4) Jalliana, (U) Ahladana and Prahladana. (आह्रादन, माहादन) The first became prime minister and the last was also minister. Ahladana seeing to have been appointed judge. He showed great religious zeal in causing temples to be erectal, images of the Tirthaukars to be consecrated, manuscripts to be copied, etc. In Anhilvad Pattan he founded the temple of Vasupujya, and induced his teacher Vardhamana to write the life of that Tirthankara. The poet apparently intended to honour his pupil in making his work आहादनाङ्क i. e. in using the word, in the last stanzı of each canto. Thus the book was written in Samvat 1299, or A. D. 1243, (1) the first edition of which is now given to the public.
The subject of the Vasupujyacharita is, as indicated by the name of the work, the life of the twelfth Tirthankara. The first two sargas that given by Devendracharya (1) of himself in the prasasti of the Chandraprabhacharita (azaña) (Peterson, Rep. IV. 84-85).
