It is thought, gunas affect certain emotions and thoughts of man, The Vásna and Mansic Upadhis or Karma Parkratis of the man. The rationale of fasting is chiefly and pricipally to purify these higher Upadhis or Karma Prakartis through the purification of the lower Sthula Upadhi of Karma-Prakrati. The purification of the Sthula Upadhi or Karma-Prakrati is much assisted and facilitated by the recital drop of certain mantras. These mantras work from above downwards, from within outward, from Sukshma Upadhis of Karma Prakratis to Sthula Upadhis or Karma-Prakratis. This method of religious spiritual purification could be supported upon many clinical observations. Many drugs are known to produce certain physiological and psychic effects. So are many articles of food proved to have produced certain physiological and psychic effects on the body of the patient. From the standpoint of a healthculturist the fasting has now a days a wide application and far-reaching effects. Clinical observation of cellular pathology supply ample evidence in the support of fasting as a powerful weapon of pharmaceuties.
