Segment of a straight line forming the base of a triangle or a quadrilateral.

and the short syllables of all the possible varieties of metre with any given number of syllables, the space required for the symbol of a short or a long syllable being one angula and the intervening space between each variety being also an angula. See note to VI-333 to 336.
