In the Pūrvatāpinī or the first part, it is taught that Rāma is the Supreme Being, a Mantra and a Yantra are hoth described for conducting his worship, and the story of the Rāmāyaṇa is also briefly given. In the Uttaratāpinī or the second part, the component parts of the Praņava are identified with Rāma and his brothers, while Sita is identified with Prakrti'or primordial matter; and the identification of the individual soul with Rāma is then taught to constitute the goal of salvation ; and lastly Siva is authorized by Rāma to teach at Benares the Tāraka-Mantra relating unto himself.
