बहूनि पुण्यानि कृतानि येन तेनैव लभ्यः परमेश्वरोऽसौ । यस्याङ्गजोऽहं हरिरिन्द्रमुख्या मोहं न जानन्ति सुरेन्द्रमुख्याः || प्रभुं वरेण्यं पितरं महेशं ममापि विष्णोर्जनकं देवमीड्यम् । यो अन्तकाले सर्वलोकान्संजर्हति तस्मै रुद्राय नमो अस्तु ॥
यो वामपादाचित विष्णुनेत्रस्तस्मै ददौ चक्रमतीव हृष्टः । तस्मै रुद्राय नमो अस्तु ।
परात्परतरो ब्रह्म यत्परात्परतो हरः ।
तत्परात्परतरो (गि)रीशस्त (स्मै रुद्राय नमो अस्तु ) ||

This Upanisad teaches that the matter of the body is animated by Prana which is derived out of the Atman (self), these together constituting the man of sixteen Kalas or component parts. It further mentions certain states of human consciousness, explaining them in accordance with this theory, and describes the value of the repetition of the Pranava as a means to attain Mökṣa by realising the nature of the Supreme Being, as herein described. हरिः ओम् || भद्रं कर्णेभिः शृणुयाम देवाः । शान्तिः ॥ ओं सुकेशा च भारद्वाजः शैब्यश्च सत्यकामः सौर्यायणी च गार्ग्यः कौसल्यश्चाश्वलायनो भार्गवो वैदर्भिः कबन्धी कात्यायनस्ते हैते ब्रह्मपरा ब्रह्मनिष्ठाः परं ब्रह्मान्वेषमाणा एष ह वै तत्सर्वं वक्ष्यतीति ते ह समित्पाणयो भगवन्तं पिप्पलादमुपसन्नास्तान् सह ऋषिरुवाच भूय एव तपसा ब्रह्मचर्येण
