This Upanisad explains in accordance with the tenets of Visiṣṭādvaita Vedanta, the nature and qualities of Narayana, the Supreme Being, the evolution and involution of the universe, the cause of the mundane embodied existence of souls, the means and nature of salvation; and it gives a description of Heaven with that of the Supreme Being residing therein. ओं भद्रं कर्णेभिरिति शान्तिः ।
अथ परमरहस्यतत्त्वं जिज्ञासुः परमेष्ठी देवमानेन सहस्रसंवत्सरं तपश्चचार । सहस्रवर्षेऽतीतेऽत्युग्रतीत्रतपसं भगवन्तं महाविष्णुं ब्रह्मा परिपृच्छति भगवन् परमतत्त्वरहस्यं मे ब्रूहीति
