This consists of two Anuvākas forming the 12th and 13th Anuvākas of Praśna 3 of the Kṛṣṇayajurvēdaraṇyakam.
According to the following statement, namely—
एतद्वै पौरुषं सूक्तं यजुष्यष्टादशर्चकन् ।
बह्वचे षोडशचं स्यात् छान्दोग्ये पञ्च साम नि | चतस्रो जैमिनीयानां सप्त वाजसनेयिनाम |
आथर्वणानां षडूचमेवं सूक्तविदो विदुः ॥
the Purusasükta consists of 16 verses in the Rgveda, 18 in the Kṛṣṇayajurvēda, 5 in the Samavēda, 4 in the Jaiminiya Šākhā, 7 in the Suklayajus and 6 in the Atharvana Vēda. In the Ṛgveda this is the 90th Sukta of the tenth Mandala. In the Suklayajus it is made up of Khandikas 1 and 2 of the 35th Adhyaya. The Purusasūkta is one of those Vedic hymns that have been much commented upon by Indian commentators.

सहस्त्रसिरुषा (शीर्ष) पुरुषः सहस्त्रा (स्त्रा) सत्सहस्त्र (ख) पाउ (त) | सभूमिं विश्वत्वा अत्ति (त्य) निष्ठद (६) शाङ्गलम् ॥
