Manittha (Manetho) is a well-known name in astrology, quoted by Varāhamihira. For the work see 10. Catal. No. 3061. In the 17th verse of the I0. manuscript, the work is clearly stated to embody the views of Maạittha ; but in that of the present manuscript, it is rather attributed to Maņittha himself. It runs :
वृथा फलं हायनजञ्च यस्मात्
न जौवनं हायनरिणयोगात् । रियाणि यस्मात् प्रथमं प्रवक्ष्ये
पूर्वैर्विधिज्ञैः कथितानि यानि ॥ १७ ॥ The IO. MS. has afucqar in the place of yatafusi i
