of Chapter XIV or the last chapter of the Suryasiddhānta; the remaining verses are easy and require no explanation. The commentator has not probably thought it necessary. to add his gloss to them.
As to the date of the commentator, he indicates it (a) as the Kali elapsed year, 4673=1494 Šāka=1572 A.D. vide folio 13, second half.

(b) Calculates the lunar eclipse on fi in the "Creation" year, 1955884673=4673 Kali elapsed, i.e. the lunar eclipse on June 25, 1572 A.D. (vide folio 85).
(c) Calculates the solar eclipse which happened in Samvat 1629 [1627] फाल्गुनामावस्यायां = 1491 Saka माघामावस्या or on February 5, 1570 A.D. (vide folio 109).
Hence the date of the commentary may be taken as extending from 1572 A.D. for about one or two years.
Colebrooke's finding of this date was 1571-72 A.D. See IO. Catalogue No. 2782.
No further information of the commentator is furnished by any of the colophons at the ends of the chapters.. It is a very valuable commentary on the Suryasiddhānta. The date of the manuscript cannot be ascertained.
