Substance, country-made paper, 10x7 inches. Book form. Pages, Character, Bengali of the 19th century. Appearance, fresh.
The original text in Sanskrit with its Bengali translation. It is delivered by Śrī Kṛṣṇa as his message of peace to Arjuna in his greatest affliction after the tragic death of his brave son Abhimanyu. The sweet music of its language and its soothing philosophy would give the work the front rank in our sacred literature. What is still more interesting to us is the accompanying Bengali translation which was carefully corrected. It shows how Bengalis outside Bengal pushed their vernacular in those days. It is one of the MSS. of Kāśīdāsa Mitra who copied it for the use of Rājā Gangā Nārāyaṇa Sahasa Raya Bahadur of Lalgar.
