तत्तमो नीलं न तु नीलिमा तम इति प्रतीतिविरोधादे. वोपेथितं न चाजहल्लिंगत्वाभावे सति समानाधिकरणस. मानविभक्तिकविशेषणपदत्वस्य विशेष्यलिंगग्राहकत्वनियमात्तथैव प्रयोग इति वाच्यम् । ' गुणे शुक्लादयः पुंसि गुणि लिंगास्तु तद्वति ।' इति विशेषविधानबलादुक्तन्या यस्य बाधितत्वात् न च न्यायप्राप्ता । न च ...मात्रार्थ स्वादेतस्य न विधायकत्वम् अन्यथा शुक्लं रूपमित्यादौ शुक्लो रूपमित्यापत्तेरिति वाच्यम् । एतावत् 'गुणिलिङ्गा स्तु तद्वति' इत्यत्रांशेऽनुवादकत्वे 'गुणे शुक्लादयः पुंसि' इत्यत्रांशेऽनुवादत्वाभावात् । तस्यैव चात्र प्रकृतत्वाब चैवं शुक्लो रूपमित्यापतिः । तादृशप्रयोगाभावस्ये. ष्टसाधनताज्ञानविडंबसाधुत्व... । Subject : Saivatattvamrtam.

Vairāgyaśiva belongs to Vidyāraṇyapuri in the Karnataka. This work of his is a commentary on the Vidya (jñana) pada of the Mfgendrottara in the Kâmikāgama. The subject matter of this pāda of the Agama is philosophical, dealing as it does with the threefold Saiva categories, Pati, Paša and Paba. The anthor is very widely read in other sästras, especially in Nyāya and Mināmsã and he treats these three categories in a scholarly manner. At the beginning there is
