For this purpose ingenious writers wrote abridgements of the text like Aqrādaśabloki" ar d Saptabloki (Nos. 8989; 8943) promising the same result from their recitation as that obtained by reciting the whole original. Thus (ritually) much literature like Mahatmya (No. 8922) Mantră (No. 8938) Stotra (No. 8930) and Kavaca (No. 8928) gathered around it. There are many such works preserved in the Library. Bhagavadgita became an object of imitation so much that various Gitās sprang up either with the names of the authors or according to the subject matter treated therein. For the convenonience of the reader all those works going under the name Gitā are included in this section. Of such Gitä works the following deserve special mention. Name

Almost all the above Gitās have commentaries on them. Among the commentators there are great names like Gauda padacārya probably the guru of Sankara (No. 8964); Yegnetvarasūna (No. 8997) and Mädbavācārya (son of Caandapācårya) (No. 9045 & 9053) the famous author of a commentary on the Sutasambită.
