Aocording to the Purăņas, Sukra is said to have cursed liquor to the effeot that the Brahmin who happens to drink it commits sin; and the repetition of this Mantra is intended to remove the power of the curso thus pronounced on liquor. Boginning:
शुकशापविमोचनमहामन्त्रस्य शुक्र ऋषिः, देवी गायत्री छन्दः, शुक्रशापविमोचनार्थे जपे विनियोगः ।। End:
ऐं शुक्रशापविमोचनाय की अमोघानाय सौः मोचय मोचय स्वाहा ।
ऐं शुक्रका(या)य विद्महे क्लीं कृष्णाय धीमहि । तनश्शुकः प्रचोद. यात् । भष्टवारं जपित्वा ।।
