Kumarila Bhatta is the founder of the Bhatta school of Mimamsa.
Kumarila's date is generally fixed between 620 and 680 A. D. Mandanamiára and Bhavabhūti (Umveka) were bis pupils. His work-the Varttika on the Bhasya of Sabarasvamin is in three parts:
1.
Slokavarttika-dealing in verse with Pada 1, Adhyaya
1 of the Bhasya.
2. Tantravärttika-covering the remaining 3 padas of the
Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir
1 Adhyays,
8. Tupika a running commentary on the remaining
Adhyayas.
Prabhakara, the author of Brhatt another commentary on the Sabara Bhagya, is considered as his pupil traditionally, that he differed from his guru, and founded the other school of Mimamsă called after his name. All these 8 parts have been separetely commented upon:

I Nyayaratnakara of Parthasarathimiśra.
II Katika of Sucaritamisra.
Tuplika-
Nyayasudha or Ranska of Somesvara.
Varttik bharapa of Venkatesvaradīkaita.
The Tantravarttika and the Tuptiks have been published
