Venkatesa, the author of the Uņādinighaniu was a native of Tanjore and was a contemporary of Sábaji (1884-1710 A. D.). He was the pupil of Rāmabhadra Dikqita and was also a near relation of his. His father was one Dakgipāmürti. It is very likely that he is identical with the Verkatesa whose commentary on the Patañjalicarita of Rámabhadra Dikoita was described under No. 8827, The Unadikosa brings to. gether all the words that have been dealt with in Urādi gūtras.
