Subject: Mälavikāgnimitra 1-5 acts, Remarks :--The Ms. is in good condition. On the title page is given:--
'पुस्ख कमिदं कगैडि श्रीनाथभट्टस्य' There are two loose Slokas beginning with
1 प्रेष्यागतं प्रियतमं निरीक्ष्य
2 ममैवायं शृङ्गारगभिणी (1) This Ms. is dated samvat 1652, corresponding to A. D. 1596. The refernce to Martanda leads us to suppose that the Ms. should have been copied in Northern India.
The Malavikāgnimitra deals with the story of the marriage of Milavika with Agnimitra. Agnimitra had already one wife by name Dbāriņi and Málavikā became his second wife.
Agnimitra is regarded as a contemporary of Kálidasa by certain scholars who place bim in the 1st century B. C. ___Several editions of this work are available, the most noteworthy being the one published by the Sri Vapi Vilās Press Srirangam. There are a number of copies of this work in this Library and they are given in a tabular form.
