The Sahityaratanākara is by Yajianārāyaṇa Dikṣita, the son of the famous Govinda Dikeita, minister of the Nāyak kings of Tanjore. Yajnanirayana Dikita's palmy days were spent in the court of Raghunathanayaka, the son of Acyutappa and the most fainous of the Nāyak kings. The work is a biography of his patron and throws much light on the social and political conditions of Tanjore in those days,
