Whilst Ugrapāņd ya the King rises in esteem and bids fair to become an equal of Indra as a sacrificer of one hundred sacrifices, Indra gets angry and persuades Varuņa to swell the oceans to envelop the city of Madhurā. Ugrapāņdya iş agitated and in bis sleep, a Siddha advises him to use the spear given to him by his father to check Varuņa. The picture shows the King stemming the tide of the ocean by his spear.
