Deals with the manner of observing the Vrata which consists in worshipping Siva and Parvati on the Mouday which falls on the third day in the bright fortnight of the Bhadrapada month and which is associated with the asterism Hasta. The Vrata should be properly called Haritálikā as it was observed by Parvatī when she was taken away from her father by her companions in order to enable her to avoid marrying Vişnu as arranged by her father. Beginning :
नित्यकर्माणि कृत्वा रात्रौ पूजासमये मङ्गलस्नानं विधाय मण्डपे तोरणं यथासंभवं निधाय आचम्य तिथ्यादि सङ्कीर्त्य पूर्वोक्तैवंगुणविशेषणविशिष्टायां शुभतिथौ मम चतुर्विधपुरुषार्थफलसिद्ध्यर्थमनेकजन्मनि सौभाग्यारोग्याथै वन्ध्यात्ववैधव्यकन्याप्रसूतित्वनिरसनार्थ सर्वकामनासिद्ध्यर्थ हरितालिकामहाव्रतं करिष्ये ।
