This Vrata consists in worshipping Vâmana, an incarnation of Visnu, in the Vrácika Lagna on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada when the day happaus to be a Sunday and is associated with the asterisin Śravaņa. This is considered to have the power of making one prosperous in life and cnabling one to realise oue's object Two different versions of this Vrata aro given in this MS.
Beginning:
चन्द्रमण्डलमध्यस्थं शुद्धस्फटिकसान्निभम् । दध्योदनं वामहस्ते दक्षिणे कलशामृतम् ॥ शक्लमाल्याम्बरधरं सर्वाभरणभूषितम् ।।
वामनं च प्रभुं ध्यायेदुर्गमोत्तारणाय च ॥
परमात्मने नमः-ध्यानम् ।
इमां पुण्यकथां श्रुत्वा भक्तियुक्तेन चेतसा ।
मुच्यते सर्वपापेभ्यो विष्णुलोकं व्रजेद्भुवम् ॥ Colophon: इति भविष्योत्तरपुराणे वामनजयन्तीव्रतकल्पः सम्पूर्णः ॥
इदमन्यत् प्रवक्ष्यामि सर्वपापप्रणाशनम् । पुत्रदं भाग्यदं नृणां सर्वाभीष्टप्रदायकम् ॥ मासे भाद्रपदे शुद्धद्वादश्यां रविवासरे । श्रवणे नाम्नि नक्षत्रे मध्याह्ने वृश्चिके शुभे ॥
