Gives the number of the Ķks, the names of the Rsis, the Chandas and other particnlars connected with the Mantras addressed to the sun-god. By the propitiation of the sun-god one is supposed to be able to get rid of one's diseases and sins and to obtain wisdom and salvation. Beginning :
__ अथ सौर्याणां मन्त्राणामृक्सङ्ख्यामृषिदेवतच्छन्दांसि पुनर्वक्ष्यामः
पूर्वाचार्यक्रमेणैतत्सर्व पुरा दृष्ट्वा शौनकादिभिराचार्यैर्जपतां तु प्रत्यक्षत्वार्थमिदानी तन्मयोच्यते । उदु त्यं जातवेदसमिति त्रयोदशर्चस्य सूक्तस्य कण्वपुत्रप्रस्कण्व ऋषिः, सूर्यो देवता । End :
एवं भास्करसमाराधनं कुर्यात्तदा गृही पापक्षयार्थी व्याधिविमो.
