म]नानेन सदृशस्साक्षात् परशिवस्स्वयम् । नान्यो देवो मनुष्यो वा समोऽनेन महेश्वरि ।। शुचिस्सदायं विज्ञेयः स्नानादप्यधिकश्शिवे । चण्डालस्पर्शनं कृत्वा भुक्तच्छिष्टन संयुतः ॥ विष्ठानुलिप्तदेहश्च मन्त्रेण च समन्वितः । कलझं भक्षयेद्यस्तु गङ्गास्वानसहस्रकम् ॥

This Kalpa forms the 29th Adhyaya of the Visnudharmāttara, wherein Pulastya teaches Dālbhya the Apāmārjana-mantra addressed to Vişņu, and gives all the necessary details connected with it. He says therein that it is the best remedy for counteracting poison and various kinds of dire diseases and evil spirits. Beginning: श्रीदारभ्य उवाच
भगवन् प्राणिनस्सर्वे विषरोगाद्युपद्रवैः । दुष्टग्रहोपघातैश्च(सर्व)कालमुपद्रुताः ॥ आभिचारिककृत्याभिस्सर्वरोगैश्च दारुणैः । सदा सम्पीड्यमानास्तु तिष्ठन्ति मुनिसत्तम ॥ येन कर्मविपाकेन विषरोगाद्युपद्रवाः ।
न भवन्ति नृणान्तन्मे यथावद्वक्तुमर्हसि ॥ पुलस्त्य उवाच
व्रतोपवासैथै विष्णुं नान्यजन्मनि तोषिताः । ते नरा मुनिशार्दूल ग्रहरोगादिपीडिताः ।।
