Rēņuká referred to herein is probably the wife of Jamadagni and the mother of Paraśurāma. She is considered to be the presiding deity of small-pox and sach other epidemics. The repetition of this Mantra is held to enable one to briug people under one's control and to annoy one's enemies in various ways. Beginning : ____ अस्य श्रीरेणुकापरमेश्वरीमन्त्रस्य जमदमिः ऋषिः, पतिश्छन्दः, श्रीरेणुकापरमेश्वरी देवता ; ही बीजं, स्वाहा शक्तिः, रेणुकापरमेश्वरीप्रसादसिद्धयर्थे जपे विनियोगः । End: ____ओं ही नमो भगवति रक्तपञ्चमि रेणुकादेवि दह दह पच पच अखिलजगन्मे वशं कुरु कुरु स्वाहा ।
ही इत्याद्यष्टत्रिंशद्वर्णैर्मूलमन्त्र . . . . . . इष्टा भवति प्रसिद्धम् ॥

This Mantra is addressed to Lakşmi, and its repetition is held to have the power to remove one's sins, to secure protection to one from bad people and evil spirits, to remove diseases, and to confer prosperity on one, etc. Beginning :
लक्ष्मीकवचम् । श्रीदेव्युवाच -
महालक्ष्मि(क्ष्म्याः) प्रवक्ष्यामि कवचं सर्वकामदम् । सर्वपापप्रशमनं दुष्टव्याधिविनाशनम् ।।
