A DESCRIPTIVE CATALOGUE OF
The repetition of this Mantra consisting of eight syllables is believed to have the power to secure for one the favour of Hayagriva. The syllaūle Om, both in the beginning and in the end, is not to be taken as forming part of the Man' ra proper.
Beginning:
गुरुनमस्कारः । ओं हां हयग्रीवाय नमः ओं इति प्राणायामः १२ . पूर्णज्ञानेत्यादिन्यासः ।
अस्य श्रीहयग्रीवाष्टाक्षर महामन्त्रस्य ब्रह्मा ऋषिः, देवी गायत्रीं छन्दः, श्रीहयग्रीवो देवता, हयग्रीवप्रेरणया हयग्रीवप्रीत्यर्थे जपे विनि
योगः ।
End:
ओं हां हयग्रीवाय नमः ओं इति जपः । उपसंहारः पूर्ववत् ॥

ब्रह्मा ऋषिः, गायत्री छन्दः, हयग्रीवो देवता; हं बीजं, सः शक्तिः, ह्रां ह्रीं इत्यादिनाङ्गानि ।
End:
हूँ — इति मन्त्रः पक्षचतुष्करूपः । श्वेतपद्मदेशांश पुरश्चरणहोमः । विद्याकामेन.
सौः इत्यनेन सम्पुटीकृत्य जप्तव्यः ॥
